About The Friends of the ELANCO Library
The Friends of the ELANCO Library is a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to improving the services and resources of the Eastern Lancaster County Library. The work of the Friends of the ELANCO Library provides financial support by supplementing the Library’s annual operating budget. Their largest single fundraising effort is an annual book sale, held in April. The Friends also offer books for sale at the New Holland Antique Car Show in July. Additionally, the “Friends Book Sale Shelf” located in the library is always available for browsing. Selections for sale on this shelf are changed monthly.
The Friends are always looking for book sorter recruits. You can help us prepare for our wonderful book sales if you can spare an hour or two per week. Training is provided. If you would like to learn more about the Friends of ELANCO Library, or would like to become a member, contact Friends President Andi Taylor at email@example.com.
The Friends of the Library hold book sales several times a year. Please call 717-354-0525 and ask for Heather to arrange a drop off time for donations. Please do not leave boxes of books outside the Library.
The Eastern Lancaster County Library accepts the following donations:
- New or gently-used books, paperback or hardcover
- Children’s books – hardcover books or paperbacks, in very good condition (not written in or colored or torn)
- Audiobooks on CD, preferably unabridged
- Music CDs – popular and classical titles
- Movies on DVD or Blu-ray
We cannot accept text books, encyclopedias, old magazines, Readers Digest condensed books, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, or any items that have been stored in attics or basements for long periods of time, or items that have smoke or water damage.
Donated materials are given to the ELANCO Library without condition. Upon receipt, donations become the property of the library. We reserve all rights to determine addition to the collection or disposal. Items not added to the collection may be given to other libraries, sold to raise money to purchase other items, or given away for free.
